China Police Check or
China Police Clearance Certificate

A China Police Check, also referred to as a China Police Clearance Certificate may be required for various purposes outside China. These include visa applications, residence permits, school enrolment, employment, or immigration.

Who needs a China Police Check ?

You will need to obtain a China Police Check / China Police Clearance Certificate if you have previously visited, worked, studied, or lived in China on a work visa, student visa, family reunion visa, or permanent residence for more than 3 months and now require the certificate to apply for a work visa, student visa, permanent residency, or immigration to countries outside China, such as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore, Spain, South Africa, France, etc.

Who can apply for a China Police Check?

Foreigners who have worked, studied, or resided in China for a continuous period (not an accumulated total) of 3 months or more are eligible to apply for a China Police Check / China Police Clearance Certificate.

Procedure for a China Police Check

Please complete our checklist and submit it online.

We will then advise you on the estimated processing time.
If the application is successful, we will send the scanned copies to you and then mail the original to your mailing address via DHL

Processing Time for a China Police Check

The fastest processing time is 14-19 working days, including the time required to issue notarized documents. The longest time required is over 35 working days.

The above time does not include the time required to prepare other documents before processing, such as notarization of power of attorney and some necessary document mailing time.

Authorised Representative

In most Chinese cities, a representative can apply for a China Police Check Clearance Certificate/Non-Criminal Record Certificate on behalf of the applicant.

To do this, the applicant must provide an authorisation letter nominating the representative.

The specific requirements for the authorisation letter vary by city.

Some cities accept a scanned copy of the signed authorisation letter, others require the original signed letter.

Certain cities may require applicants outside of China to provide a signed authorisation letter that has been notarised by a Public Notary and legalised by the Chinese Embassy or Consulate.
